Twitter search and you

Something interesting has happened. I have found myself searching twitter [before] I search google. My search habits are changing.

Once I know where the business is … once I know the features of a product … I have few reasons to visit the manufacturers site or the business listing page again unless a twitter post links me back to it.

More and more we will go to twitter to find out what people (not just our friends) think or are saying about the news, events, products, businesses, people, politicians, churches, garage sales, beers and more.

If I am buying or selling or breaking a news story. I will do it through twitter! The rich data still lives in other places but we will find it and connect to it through twitter.

It’s the human layer that we care about so much. It’s the me-too layer. It’s the RIGHT NOW layer and twitter has and continues to grow that critical mass that makes it all relevant.

Twitter isn’t just about friends and following. Your circle of friends on twitter have a fantastic initial networking value, but it’s limited in comparison to being able to search and temporarily connect with a stranger that shares a common interest or wants to make a transaction.
